Sourdough Rolls

These Sourdough Rolls can be made in one day…no need for an overnight rise. You do need to plan some time for the dough to rise in between steps but the active time preparing these rolls is not an labor intensive as some sourdough recipes.

These smelled delicious as they were baking. They are best served warm. Any leftover rolls can be rewarmed prior to serving. If you are not a fan of sourdough (like my brother who did not love these rolls), these may not be your favorite rolls. They definitely have a sourdough flavor so if you like that sourdough, this recipe will be a winner for you.

If you don’t yet have any Sourdough Starter, follow the directions here to make your own. We have Sourdough Saturdays at our house so once a week, we make a new sourdough recipe. Sometimes we even have enough sourdough to make two recipes…bonus!

  • I followed the recipe as written although I did use a different brand of yeast.

Tips from Cooking After Class for making Sourdough Rolls:

  • Be sure to give yourself enough time to let the dough rise after each step.
  • Check to make sure your yeast is fresh and not expired.
